And let's see, this time, the calamities involved a hairdresser, a chocolate cake and a neighbor who couldn't change a light bulb. I'm sure I'll get around to writing a full post about these 'events' at some point!

Hey Maria – You’re right, New England is full of these small communities and it is a nice change of pace from the bigger cities. New England seems to be the prime spot for towns like these and I am glad you are enjoying your time there.
I am wondering what sort of 'calamity' will happen this time. :)

So many of my family lives/have lived in CT that I'm familiar with most of the state. It's not a big state after all ;) My parents even met at UConn.

I can only imagine all of the stories and tales your husband's grandmother must have! And that's even more wonderful that it is still having a positive effect on other people's lives even today.
And there are some great seafood restaurants in the Old Lyme area. It cracks me up that you know the area as very few people have ever heard of it!

Thank you for sharing that Jennifer. I am pretty familiar with the Old Lyme area as I went to college in New London, and I had relatives in Groton. There are some great seafood restaurants in the area.
The person who reminds me to enjoy life is my husband's grandmother. She is 94 and has had an amazing life. She started performing as an acrobat at age 6, and tells me that Barbara Walter's dad grabbed her butt when she worked for him at age 13. She was in the Rockettes and the Water Follies as a young woman, and she has all kinds of stories to tell. We are trying to record them because she is getting frail now.
