Everyone comes to Goa seeking some kind of beach experience. But with so many beaches to choose from, each offering their own unique atmosphere, it can be tricky to choose the ideal location.
For me, I always head to Palolem Beach in South Goa, about 1.5 hours drive from Goa’s airport. This beach has everything – a small local village, a mix of independent travelers, families, couples and groups of friends, great food, a beautiful long beach and an excellent selection of Goa beach huts to choose from.
No matter what your budget, you can find a beach hut that suits your needs.
After visiting Palolem 8 or 9 times now, my preferred Goa beach huts are those found at Resort de Palolem. And while it’s not exactly a ‘resort’, it’s a great collection of 12 or so simple, yet spacious, huts, complete with balconies facing the beach, hot water and most importantly, space. The huts themselves are spacious inside and the property has such a laid-back feel since the huts are not thrown on top of each other like you find at other places.
There’s plenty of green space and room in between each hut. You can also hear the waves from every hut, you’re no more than 20 meters from the beach, the restaurant on premises is excellent and very popular in the evenings, the location is right at the best part of the entire beach (beautiful sand and not too many people, yet still central) and you’re within 10 minutes walking distance to the center of the village where you can find shops, restaurants and more.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating and the nightly rates make this a great value. Smaller huts start at around 1000 rupees per night ($14 USD) and larger huts are 2000 rupees per night. There’s also a couple of even larger family huts as well. And you can always negotiate depending on the length of your stay.
Overall, awesome place, awesome Goa experience.
